There has hardly been a film in recent years that the members of the FILMSTARTS editorial staff have been so unanimous about as with “Paddington 2”. The 2017 adorable family adventure was able to surpass its already great predecessor and is simply “a humorous, heartwarming, and visually impressive delight for young and old,” as our 4.5-star review of the movie puts it.
But not only we are enthusiastic about the film adaptation of the children’s stories about the eponymous talking bear. With 99 (!) percent positive reviews (out of a total of 252 registered reviews), the sequel scores almost perfectly on the review collection page (And some of the movie’s celebrity fans include Massive Talent co-stars Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal).
So there are plenty of “Paddington” enthusiasts* eagerly awaiting a sequel after this highlight, which was actually already confirmed in 2018. However, not much has happened for a long time since then. But that’s about to change: In an official press release, the main cast of “Paddington 3 is now alias”Paddington in Peruannounced. Fans of the series should be prepared for a starring recast, but they’re also getting some top-notch newcomers…

Recurring guests include Hugh Bonneville (as Mr. Brown), Julie Walters (as Mrs. Bird), Jim Broadbent (as Samuel Gruber), Madeleine Harris (as Judy Brown), and Samuel Joslin (as Jonathan Brown). In addition, Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton Paddington and his Aunt Lucy will once again lend their voices to the English original.

It is still unclear when “Paddington in Peru” will hit theaters. However, now that the cast has formed, filming should begin soon, so a theatrical release is likely in late 2024. The first two parts also started as a cozy cinema experience in the run-up to Christmas.
