Huge “Walking Dead” surprise: Is there another fan favorite in the Daryl spin-off?

“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” offers fans of the zombie franchise a true emotional roller coaster ride. Originally, the sequel to “Walking Dead” was going to focus on two fan favorites who already had a very special relationship in the main series: Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride).

In April 2022, it was announced that Carol actress Melissa McBride was no longer a part of the project, likely for logistical reasons, as filming was taking place in Europe, but McBride was unable to move there for an extended period of time. The series was then remodeled and fully aligned with Daryl.

But now there seems to be a turnaround: Several videos and photos taken by fans of the “Daryl Dixon” shoot in France (in the so-called Grande Arche building west of Paris) now show not only protagonist Norman Reedus, but also “Carol” Melissa McBride by his side. But see for yourself (the video is originally from an Insta story by the user iam_ndeye):

If the images haven’t been edited (you can never be sure about that these days, but it doesn’t look like it until now), So is Carol really in the Daryl spin-off after all? So we were deliberately tricked by those involved? In any case, the title of the series contradicts this (unless it is changed again).

It’s possible that Melissa McBride just found the time to at least get a glimpse of the offshoot, but may only have a smaller role. But even in this case, it will be exciting to see how Carol is incorporated into the plot. So far, the official synopsis for the series only says that Daryl has washed up in France and now has to figure out how and why he ended up there. By the way, a new mini-teaser for “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” has now also been released:

When are “The Walking Dead: Dead City” and “Daryl Dixon” coming to Germany?

We will know more when the series starts in the fall of 2023 at the latest, although the question is whether it will also be ready in Germany by then. The Maggie Negan spin-off “The Walking Dead: Dead City”, which started a few days ago in the US, z. B. still has no German date, let alone a German broadcaster or streaming at home.

Unfortunately, predictions are difficult to make here too, as the previous “Walking Dead” series was distributed quite wildly in this country. While “The Walking Dead” itself, which has now ended, recently celebrated its German premiere on Disney+ and ProSieben Fun, “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” and “Fear The Walking Dead” were and are running on Amazon Prime Video. And the anthology offshoot “Tales Of The Walking Dead” landed on Magenta TV with some delay.
