Anthology in honor of Edgar Allan Poe

Nine writers from the United Writers Society have written “An Anthology of Horror and Suspense: A Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe,” a compilation of 19 short stories to be published in mid-July.

In order to strengthen themselves as a collective, its members, 18 self-publishers, decided to write a book together, different genres were proposed, and terror and suspense unanimously won.

Likewise, writers who worked on works of these genres were proposed, and they decided that the publication would be a tribute to the writer and father of terror, Edgar Allan Poe.

The collection counts with participation Panamanian writers (Wendy Barsallo, Joel De Gracia, Rosella González, Ángelo Bazán and Malaika Etuk), Colombia (René Morales, Juan Francisco Villa and Juan Carlos Morales) and Venezuela (Hannakarina Añanguren).

To produce this publication in fact, the authors collaborated with two or three stories developing over a period of four months at most, said Wendy Barsallo, who assured that the friendship and spontaneity of the writers allowed the work to be done as a true team.

The stories in the anthology are connected with terror, mystery, murders, witches, ghosts, demons, among others, and taking “terror lords” as a reference.

Barsallo explained that not all writers had experience in genre, however, the support of Ediciones Rubiano It was “primarily to consolidate each story, with personalized instruction that helped clean up the texts and provide that metaphor in a gloomy atmosphere as Edgar Allan Poe knows how to do.”

Hannakarina Añanguren commented that Barsallo has experience in the genrewhich he acquired by participating in workshops and developing short stories for some contests.

(…) His work entitled ‘Hour of Fear’: horror stories don’t sleep’ brings together a series of short stories that belong to this genre, using experiences, places in our country and actions of everyday life, mixed with fiction. Each story feeds on natural childhood fears, especially of the unknown, and in some aspects highlights part of our folklore in the narrative,” Añanguren explained.

Soon, according to René Morales, will announce the date and the launch site for “An Anthology of Horror and Suspense: A Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe,” a publication that will be available in digital and print formats.

The publication will hit the shelves of bookstores such as Man of La Mancha, Little Morrison and others, in addition, it will be on sale on Amazon.

In addition, the Society of United Writers (@sociedaddeescritoresunidos) will participate in the next edition of the International Book Fair in Panama and will also have an edition on the stand.
