Prince to testify in wiretapping case

Prince Henry, son of King Charles III, arrived at London’s High Court on Tuesday to testify in a wiretapping case against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), the owner of newspapers such as the Daily Mirror, which he accuses of illegal practices to obtain exclusives.

The Duke of Sussex, who did not appear on Monday as expected by Judge Timothy Fancourt, appeared at 08:39 GMT this morning after arriving at the court in a black vehicle.

The youngest son of King Carlos III and the unfortunate Diana of Wales has filed a lawsuit against MGN alleging that journalists from its headquarters – which include the Sunday Mirror and Sunday People – engaged in questionable methods of obtaining information, such as tapping private phones and hiring detectives to collect personal information.

The case of Enrique, who lives in NOW with his wife and two children, is facing the same charges as three other charges considered “representative” of celebrities in this country, as part of a trial that began last month and will last about seven weeks.

According to the duke, about 140 articles published from 1996 to 2010 contained data collected by illegal methods.

Of these publications, 33 will be considered during this trial.

For its part, the MGN rejected or did not recognize them and also claimed that some of the plaintiffs brought their cases to court too late.

Enrique appeared in the same court last March for a preliminary hearing in relation to a separate charge against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), owner of the Daily Mail and Mail On Sunday.

The Duke also took legal action against News Group Newspapers, owner of The Sun and the now defunct News Of The World.
