The first two electronic lottery games will be launched in the country next July, the National Charity Lottery (LNB) has announced. Those games will be Loto and Pega 3, and will mark a new approach in the way the lottery is played and sold in Panama.
Director of Income and chairman of the board of directors of LNB, Publio De Gracia, emphasized that this initiative This will not only benefit lottery revenues, but also the ticket holders themselves.
In order to develop this new type of game, the Board of Directors decided to approve an addition to the existing contract with an American company known for its experience in developing electronic lotteries in 82 countries.
De Gracia clarified that the company will not receive concessions, but will provide the National Charity Lottery with the necessary technological platform to implement electronic games. The lottery will be in charge of managing the games and making the appropriate payments using its own process.
Each lottery ticket owner will receive an electronic unit that will enable him to sell the lottery effectively. The first 2,500 devices will be shipped in the next few days as part of the initial phase.
The decision to venture into electronic lottery games was partly driven by a 30 percent decline in sales of lottery tickets and lottery tickets in recent years. This is attributed to a variety of factors, including generational change and the demand for new types of games.
The National Charity Lottery seeks to attract new players, especially young people who are interested in participating in state and legal lottery games.
De Gracia stressed that the company providing the technology platform will be committed to delivering the equipment that matches approximately 14 thousand wallets that exist in Panama.
This approach also seeks to end unfair practices associated with traditional lottery games, such as doubles and one-twos, which have been the subject of frequent customer complaints.
The director of the tax administration pointed out that, unlike other countries where the lottery is losing its importance, in Panama the lottery is still very popular and successful.
