Amancio Ortega closes the purchase of the former BBC headquarters in London for more than 90 million

Founder of Inditex, Amancio Ortegathrough its investment subsidiary Pontegade, continues to invest in real estate in London, where concluded the purchase of the former BBC headquarters for around £82 million (about EUR 93 million), sources familiar with the operation confirmed.

So, the founder of Inditex becomes the owner of the mentioned property located at 33 Foley Street, owned by Abrdan. The building was built in 1920 and in its beginnings housed a large printing house. Later, BBC Worldwide was located there. Throughout its history, it has undergone numerous reforms. The last one was carried out by the penultimate owner and current resident Kier. The property has more than 4,000 square meters and energy class A.

This purchase materializes days after the purchase of a building with 120 luxury rental apartments in the south port area of ​​Dublin for more than €100 million.

Namely, the purchased building called Opus has 24 one-room apartments, 74 two-room and 22 three-room apartments at a price of 841,666 euros. Ortega bought the said property from the Angelo Gordon fund, based in New York, and its local partners, Carysfort Capital.

The founder of Inditex invests part of the dividend he receives from the textile company in the real estate sector through his investment company Pontegadea Inmobiliaria.

Ortega owns the largest Spanish real estate agencyfocused on the purchase and management of large buildings, with a real estate portfolio composed mainly of non-residential office buildings, located in the centers of large cities in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and Asia.
