Department store employers agree to a 17 percent wage increase over four years

Author: Sandra Alonso

This will affect around 260,000 workers

Unions and the National Association of Large Distribution Companies (Anged) — which includes companies such as El Corte Inglés, Carrefour and Ikea, among others — have agreed a 17 percent wage increase over four years, as part of negotiations for a new agreement for department stores, the largest in Spain, which will affect around 260,000 workers.

In 2023, an increase of a fixed 4.5% will be applied, and in 2024, another fixed 4.5%. This percentage will decrease to 3% in 2025, and 2% in 2026. In addition, employees will receive an assured non-consolidating variable of 3% in the last three years of the contract. According to the general secretary of Fetico, Antonio Pérez, department store workers will have a minimum salary of 18,000 euros per year at the end of the agreement.
