Group from Vigo Ganomagogospecialized in boilermaking and the production of large metal structures, it seems that it will bankruptcy after half a century of activity. A company with plants in Vigo, Ponteareas, Mos and O Porriño, which in recent years has devoted a large part of its production to wind sectorshe advanced to her staff, composed of more than 200 workerswho are going through serious difficulties and do not see a sustainable way to fix the situation.
The group includes companies Ganomagoga, Aplimega, Ganomagoga Logistics and Cedval workshops. The activity of the boiler house has been burdened by an increase in costs in recent months current and raw materials, as the management explained to the staff. The situation worsened in Decemberwhen the group owes part of the salary to its employees (20%), which then peaked in January. However, in the same month, the situation repeated itself, which is why the workers started a series of mobilizations on «condemn non-compliance with non-payment of wages and demand or immediate payment of outstanding debts”. The company refused to give statements to this newspaper about the situation it is going through.
Due to Ganomagoga’s movement, the staff kept some parts of the wind towers they were making for the Gri Towers company. they did it like a pressure measure to collect outstanding debt. This situation was unblocked yesterday, when the management paid 20 percent of the salary for January. These days they will ship the second batch of foundations and steel and metal towers for the company Towers of Gri in exchange for receiving part of the salary for February. He is one of the main clients of the Galician group. It belongs to the Acek corporation, which in turn owns Gestamp, an automotive auxiliary company listed on the Spanish stock exchange. Gri Towers specifies that their business relationship is exclusively with Ganomagog and not with the workers. They also point out that the large pieces of windmills that are assembled in as many as eight countries supplied with Galician metal arrive with “certain” regularity.
The shadow of suspension of payment looms over Ganomagog as the wind sector, in which they were increasingly present, flourishes. The group from Vigo has also developed works for the biomass, marine and automotive industries in recent years.
Billing
According to the latest audited accounts of the company, which correspond to the year 2021, the group has collected 13.6 million euros (in 2020, there were 15.17). The situation “suddenly” took root because initially the workers and the company would meet to call the ERTE. However, at yesterday’s meeting Grupo Ganomagoga insisted on the complexity of the situation that could lead to YOU ARE insolvent. As it was communicated to their staff, for the time being there is another way out and continuity is difficult.
History
Cándido González founded the Ganomagoga group in 1975, together with four other partners, all of whom came from the boiler industry. They came from another large company in the heavy equipment construction sector in the Vigo area. Starting in 1979, the company began to diversify its activities and began working in the automotive industry, with which it has remained associated to this day. He had clients on all continents and did not stop growing, even in 2019 he bought the Vigues Wärtsil Ibérica (formerly Cedervall) boiler factory, with which he produced parts for the largest ocean liners in the world such as Oasis of Seas and also for United States defense ships.
