INEC will employ 6,478 people for the agriculture census

He National Institute for Statistics and Population Census plans to employ 6,478 people for the VIII State Census of Agriculture.

Samuel Moreno, director of INEC, said almost 8,000 people had registered on the platform as of this week.

INEC will employ enumerators, supervisors, drivers, secretaries, clerks and technical support.

“We will train them and we only ask that they have responsibility, commitment and knowledge,” Moreno told the state channel.

Enumerators will earn $800, supervisors $950 and drivers $750, Moreno said.

Requirements include being Panamanian, between the ages of 18 and 55, living near the area where the activity will be conducted, and having a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, science, diploma or engineering.

Moreno emphasized that there is great enthusiasm for this census activity. This week he held meetings in Chiriquí as part of the census dissemination.

The census will be conducted from August 1 to 30 in a hybrid manner using mobile recording devices used in population censuses national and paper questionnaires, for hard-to-reach areas.

For the field operation, a “legal census” will be carried out (which means that it will not be done in one day) in whichn personal visits to farms, field balloons or plots for conversations with producers, informants or site administrators.

For the census, which consists of 16 chapters and more than 200 questions, new topics related to classification of producers, diseases, pests, risks, social security and artisanal fishing are included.
