SIEPAC executives had the opportunity to witness live demonstrations and receive detailed explanations of the operation and benefits of this innovative technology.

STATCOM teams are installed in Substation Llano Sánchez, province of Coclé and in Substation Panama II, province of Panama.
These are equipment with top technology that uses energy electronic elements such as; power transistors (IGBT), pulse width modulation regulators, voltage source converters in reactive power valves and servers, which are connected to the main busbars of the substation using a power transformer.
STATCOMs make it possible to maintain greater voltage stability of the 230 kV lines of the National Interconnected System (SIN); In addition to very fast injection of blocks of reactive power (capacitive or inductive) between ±120MVAR, or in extreme cases of opening of lines caused by atmospheric discharges, they can provide up to ±156MVAR of reactive power in microseconds.
Mosquera reiterated the importance of continuing to work hand in hand with the SIEPAC team, in order to guarantee reliable and sustainable electricity supply for all countries in the region.
This visit marks a milestone in regional electricity cooperation and underscores the shared commitment to strengthening the electricity infrastructure in the Central American region.
