Miners ask Mitradel to defend their labor rights

The Union of Mineworkers of Panama And this Saturday, he warned that he will continue to defend the stability of employees’ jobs.

In this sense, they made it known that they want answers and demand that the rights of Panamanian workers be realized.

This week, the union went to the Office of the Ombudsman and the Ministry of Labor to present its position on the issue.

“We will continue to fight for the jobs and stability of more than 7,000 direct workers and 40,000 indirect workers. People’s Government, firmly stand by our jobs,” they said.

They also emphasized that Panama does not belong to any, but of all they deserve to be heard.

Utramipa also reported that on Friday a group of 250 employees were leaving the Cobre Panamá mine when they were prevented from traveling by bus.

“People who say they are protesting against landmines carried machetes and curtains, blocked the passage and threatened vandalism if the buses passed,” he stressed.

According to Utramip, the protesters were only allowed to pass on foot, and later charged $5 to transport people.

“These are not protests, this is shamelessness and we will report these illegal actions to the authorities,” said the association.

They also asked President Laurentin Cortiz Let it work and open the streets for them to work and earn a living.

“We miners are also Panamanians. No, don’t let these groups take control of the roads,” Utramipa said.
