Christiansen and La Roja agree, with a moment of joy

Panama has qualified for the Copa América and the Final Four of the League of Nations, a joy that is salve for the current socio-political situation in which the country finds itself.

“For the fans, we are in an ugly moment in the country, which nobody likes, what football and sports do is unite people, we will try to ensure that the unity of the country is on the field, the joy of being can qualify for (Copa América) and to be a little happier,” said coach Thomas Christiansen before the matches against Costa Rica.

“We are grateful to the fans for their presence today, that this victory and the placement is also for them,” said Mister after fulfilling the goal and qualifying for the Final Four and Copa América.

With two impressive victories, 0-3 away and 3-1 at home, Panama eliminated arch-rival Costa Rica from the Final Four of the League of Nations and sent them into the Copa América play-offs and closed the world record. 6-1.

La Roja is making back-to-back Final Four appearances and will also be in the Copa América for the second time, the first occasion being in the special edition Copa América Centenario in 2016.

“We have to give credit to all the players, the work we did and the mood, I don’t think Costa Rica has a bad team, what happens is that they hardly have important players training,” said Adalberto “Coco” Carrasquilla, after the match.

Both players and captain Aníbal Godoy and José Córdoba agreed that the proposed goal was to qualify for the Copa América in managerial fashion.

Christiansen claimed that despite the 6-1 aggregate score against Costa Rica, “you always have to improve, you have to look for details that greatly mark the future of the team, work on it, analyze it and always look forward.”

Christiasen reiterated that the credit for the win against the Ticos goes to the players.
