Tocumen International Airport processed 1,532,282 passengers during October this year, about 207,647 more than in the same month in 2022. During the first 10 months of 2023, a total of 14.7 million passengers were processed.
Despite the demonstrations that began in the last weeks of October, the number did not decrease, considering that 1,486,677 passengers were processed in September.
According to the data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Croatia Tocumen International Airportthe markets with the highest regional movement in October were South America with 45%, followed by North America with 28%, the Caribbean with 12%. while Central America contributed 11% and European markets contributed with a 5% share.
Raffoul Arab, General Manager of Tocumen International Airport, indicated that the beginning of the main season in air traffic coincided with challenges such as climatic instability and the mass passage of migratory birds.
“However, growth projections have been met, thus preserving the reliability and safety of our operations,” added Arab.
31 airlines, 15 cargo and 16 passenger carriers operate at Tocumen International Airport.
Destinations and markets
As for international connections, in the month of October Tocumen maintains direct flights to 87 destinations, through 16 commercial airlines that offer services to the capitals of America and Europe.
The October results show that of the total number of passengers who used the Tocumen terminal, 73% were connecting passengers. In addition, 12,243 aircraft movements were managed.
Regional terminals and cargo
As for the cargo terminal, during the tenth month of 2023, 17,732 metric tons of goods were transported.
For its part, the regional terminals of Panama Pacífico, Enrique Malek, Scarlett Martínez and Enrique A. Jiménez, operated by Tocumen, SA, recorded a traffic of 54,095 passengers and 1,865 aircraft operations in October.
Among the regional terminals, Panama Pacifico recorded the highest movement with 30,561 passengers handled. While the domestic terminal operating at Terminal 2 handled 20,340 passengers.
