Company Bimbo reacted to the alleged departure from Panama and clarified that will continue to work in the country.
Bimbo announced in a press release that it will continue working in Panama through its factory located in Carrasquilla and that it will continue to fulfill its commitment to feed a better world.
Bimbo explains it decided to transform its commercial and distribution business model add a local partner with extensive experience in the sector; thus ensuring that their delicious and nutritious products remain in Panamanian homes for many years.
The company reiterated that production of industrial bakeries will continue in Panama like all others investments in technology, equipment, processes and sustainability.
“We at Bimbo are strengthening our commitment to Panama, where we have been doing business for more than 16 years. Our brand has brought the best bread to more than a million homes across the country,” the company said in a statement.
On its part, National Industrial Union of Workers in the Production of Flour and Related Products (SITHA) condemned that Bimbo tried to separate himself from more than 300 workers who make up your sales department.
According to the workers, the company’s intention from 2019 was to implement a sales outsourcing mechanism in order to reduce working conditions and avoid their work obligations.
They expressed that Bimbo intends to follow the path taken by a number of national industries that have outsourced their sales to destroy workers’ rights.
They also condemned the dishonest attitude of the company, which this Tuesday, October 10, signed a contract with SITHA in which it undertakes to improve the quality of its products and the working conditions of its sellers, and a few days later takes a series of tricks to disband this Department.
In addition, they noted that the company decided to disband the union, which it had already tried in the collective agreement, but they did not have the expected results.
The workers called Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) commit to the protection of labor rights and the guarantee of dignified work through their actions.
