Cyclists from 13 countries challenge the crossing of the isthmus

About 350 cyclists from 13 countries will participate in the sixth edition Crossing the Isthmus which will take place next Sunday, October 15, 2023 and starts in the province Columbus in the Panamanian Caribbean and culminates in Veracruz in the Pacific Ocean.

In total, cyclists must travel 120 kilometers and the main challenge is to beat the 4 hours and 20 minutes that the winner of the 2023 edition managed, as announced Andres Felipe Montoyadirector of this traditional sporting event.

“On this occasion, we expect around 120 foreign drivers from countries such as: Colombia, Costa Rica, Belgium, United States, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Papua New Guinea and Panama.

Mountain bikers start the route in Shelter Bay they head towards Escoba, where they have to cross Lake Gatún in canoes, one of the most picturesque moments of the competition, and then continue their journey to the finish line passing through several rural communities.
