Copper Panama is willing to review contract adjustments

Panamanian copper announced that he was aware Resolution 02 of September 28, 2023 he betrayed Committee on Trade and Economic Affairs of the National Assemblywhich proposes adjustments to the proposed concession contract between the state and Minera Panamá.

“We have always maintained an open position for dialogue and are ready to analyze and reconsider the four adjustments mentioned in the Resolution,” the company said in a statement.

It was explained that the goal, in cooperation with the Government, is to find a solution that will enable the approval of the contract.

Likewise, its priority is to secure a contract that protects the investment made, guarantees legal certainty and ensures stability for its workers, communities, suppliers and shareholders.

Statement of Copper Panama se comes after the executive has approved Ministry of Trade and Industry, Federico Alfaro, withdraw the contract from the National Assembly in order to make the adjustments proposed by the Commission in the Resolution.

The executive made this decision after weeks of extensive discussion in which the opinions of organizations, unions, citizens and residents of the areas surrounding the mining concession were considered, both in the National Assembly and in visits to the communities of Coclesito, La Pintada and Miguel de la Borda, who made remarks on bill of law.
