In October, the Panamanian national team makes its debut against the Dominican Republic at the Pan American Games

Team Panama makes its Pan American Games debut against the Dominican Republic on October 19, then faces host Chile and two days later Mexico in the final group stage game.

For the director of the Panamanian team, Hipólito Ortiz, the Dominican Republic, which will be his first opponent, and Mexico, due to their history, will be the most dangerous rivals.

Ortiz claims that his first opponents, the Dominican Republic and Mexico, present him with great difficulties at the beginning because they have many professional players in their teams.

“Dominican Republic and Mexico have better baseball than us in the senior division. They will arrive at the tournament with professional players. We just have to concentrate on getting the job done,” Ortiz said.

Panama goes for gold

Panama, which won the qualifiers in Argentina, has clear goals to reach the Pan American Games and is betting on gold.

“We are preparing thoroughly and I want to go to the Games and be champion,” said Hipólito Ortiz.

“Panama will always fight. That’s what we’re preparing for, to make a worthy national team. We know that the ball can bounce anywhere, so it’s our thing to go play, regardless of the opponent, so that everything goes well,” he commented. manager of Panama.
