Puerto Armuelles will have its own new tax dock

The Maritime Administration of Panama (AMP) issued an order to proceed with the construction of the new public pier of Puerto Armuelles in the province of Chiriquí.

The project, estimated at approximately 20 million, envisages the studies, designs, development, approval of plans and the construction of the new Puerto Armuelles fiscal pier, as well as the procurement of furniture, tools, equipment and materials necessary for the perfect operation of the office and pier.

In this sense, we implemented public act no. 2022-2-03-0-04-LV-009201 which is awarded consortium ASOBUZ, which consists of the Panamanian company Administración y Supervisión de Obras Civiles, SA and the Colombian company BUZCA Soluciones de Ingeniería, S,A. and the aforementioned contractual relationship was confirmed by the chief supervisor of the nation.

Director Maritime Administration of Panama (AMP), Noriel Araúz announced in 2020, the project will consist of an execution period of one thousand one hundred and twenty days (1,120), four (4) budget years

Construction includes a two (2) story building in which it will be located Seafood market and AMP administrative offices.

It will be located on the first floor Seafood market, which will have proper management of health measures of fish products, increasing safety standards, in turn will have state-of-the-art modern infrastructure. Now fishermen will be able to sell their products directly from producer to consumer; In this way, the fisherman will earn more for his product, and the consumer will get a fresher product at a lower price, Araúz said at the time.

The administrative offices of the institution will be located on the second floor, which will meet the needs of the new international pier.

The construction of the new Puerto Armuelles International Fiscal Pier will benefit artisanal fishermen and also serve the ancillary maritime industry, passengers and tuna vessels. It will consist of a bridge that will connect the mainland with the first platform where artisan fishermen will be able to come and unload products.

In the same way, another bridge will be built, which goes from the platform of artisanal fishermen to the industrial passenger pier; It will be a floating dock where it will be possible to receive up to one hundred (100) passengers, boats up to forty-five (45) meters in the inner part of the dock, and boats for hunting tuna, shrimp and containers. served externally, depending on the draft and dimensions of the ship, this is the seed with which AMP contributes to economic growth in Puerto Armuelles.

The specification that selects the contractor requires that, for the construction phase, part of the labor force be residents of Puerto Armuelles or, otherwise, the district of Barú, in order to promote employment in the town.

In the operational phase, after the completion of construction, the direct beneficiaries will be the fishermen’s association, product traders and the tourist sector, who are the main beneficiaries of the terminal.
