The musician and his friends went for a walk on the Volga ice at about three in the morning. As a result, five people died, only the girl of the leader of the Cream Soda group, Dmitry Svirgunov, was saved. Dmitry himself, his 25-year-old brother Roman Svirgunov, 27-year-old Aristark Ukhtomsky and 28-year-old Georgy Kiselev died. The ambulance doctors tried to resuscitate George for about two hours, but all their attempts were in vain.
As it turned out, Dmitry celebrated his birthday in his own two-story house in the village of Dievo-Gorodishche. At the beginning of the evening, the musician and his friends crossed the snowy Volga in a place where the width of the river does not exceed a kilometer. But at night, the company decided to repeat this transition again: and if the deadly polynya is visible during the day, then at night it is impossible to see it even with a flashlight.
An employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations explained that spring ice is dangerous: it has a porous structure, it is saturated with water, so malfunctions are possible. Valeria was the first to go under the ice. Dmitry himself with his brother and their friends pulled the girl out and went under the ice themselves. Another five people from the celebrating company were lagging behind: they saw what had happened and began to call for help.
A local resident named Andrei quickly reacted – he rushed to the river with a rope in his hand. Georgy Kiselev grabbed the ice floe: they tried to save him.
“I stayed in the water for a long time. He couldn’t even turn to me and grab the rope. He shook his head and was already mumbling. He was crooked. It’s good that the guys from the Ministry of Emergency Situations managed it. It has already started to go down. He was somewhere up to his waist, he was resting, ”explained Andrey. However, the man eventually died of hypothermia.
10 hours after the tragedy, the body of Dmitry Svirgunov was discovered: he was carried 40 meters from the hole. The bodies of the musician’s brother and their friend Aristarkh Ukhtomsky could not be found.
