“I thought of an adventure on a nudist beach”: Yana Gladkikh revealed the secret of filming the series “I want, I can’t!” 02/01/2023, 13:55

The series “I want, I can’t!” It will be released on February 9 on the Evie online platform. The film was shot last year in Moscow, the Moscow region and Sochi. The main actress Daria Melnikova described it as a very funny story in which there is lightness and at the same time important topics are raised. According to her, there is a lot of irony and emotional experiences in the tape.

The film was directed by Yana Gladkikh. The actress of the series “Officer”, “Filatov”, “Excellent Student” recently successfully completed the filming process. “I want to, I can’t!” became her fifth directorial film, previously she directed the tapes “Pretty woman in shock”, “AMORE MORE” and others. In an exclusive interview with VOICE, Gladkikh talked about the filming behind the scenes.

– Yana, series “I want, I can’t!” was born from the short comedy “Sexaholics”, in which you played the main role. Why did you invite Daria Melnikova to the main role in the series?

– On my previous project, I was both the director and the performer of one of the main roles. It was crystal clear to me that I could not connect these two hypostases to “I want!” it would be practically impossible. The screenwriter Žeňa Chripková actually wrote it for me, but I convinced her that we would find an actress who might be completely different, but we would fall in love with her. And so it happened. When I showed Dasha Melnik’s samples, Zhenya said: “That’s our girl!”

– In the center of the plot of the series is a girl Sasha, who is in a group of sexaholics anonymous and does not know how to tell her fiance about her problem. Evgenia Khripkova said that for her this series is an attempt to revive her favorite romantic comedy genre, only in a new capacity. and what is it to you?

— I always look for inner freedom in what I do. If I feel limited, I am too limited – courage disappears. I need to think of some adventure. We were hooligans in this project and we enjoyed it. Not to shock or surprise anyone, but simply because it’s more interesting to live and work this way. Filmed in a skypark at an insane height bungee jumping, on a nude beach and in 40 degree heat in Sochi on a city beach in high season – and this is worse than all of the above. A lot of wit, a lot of improvisation, spontaneity. I love it.

– Evgenia Khripkova also noted: “Yana Gladkikh is absolutely my person and director.” How do you like her scripts?

– Indeed, Zhenya and I surprisingly coincide in creativity. Imagine, we wrote a skit in the evening, we went to bed with a full sense of victory. And at 9 in the morning we both print a message to each other at the same time that this scene is not good, everything needs to be done differently. Without talking. And so it is in everything. In the selection of artists, in dramaturgy, we have a similar sense of humor and sense of beauty. And this is “hoo”. Finding such a person is very, if not priceless. I really appreciate her talent and listen to her. However, it also happened that I edited one of the episodes, and Zhenya, after a long pause, said: “Well, not at all. Well, that’s ABSOLUTELY!” I spent four days thinking and completely rewiring everything. Because I hear it and there’s trust. She might as well follow me where I have rock-solid confidence in what I’m doing, even though she might do it differently. Where’s the trust and respect, there is creativity. Where there is no trust and respect, there is endless bickering about who will bargain more.

– The series also starred Polina Kutepova, Lyubov Tolkalina, Yana Koshkina, Maxim Lagashkin and other famous actors. Which one did you have trouble with?

– What difficulties can great artists have? No hassles, pure joy. With all but Yanochka Koshkina, we worked in the cinema for the first time, but it felt like the hundredth. We laughed with Polina Kutepova, we made up and poisoned stories with Lagaškin, and Ljuba Tolkalina is the “dark horse” of our history, its second core, its second main character. Her story begins in season four and reverses the narrative.

– Were your husband Ivan Shirshov and sons Lev and Stepan with you on the set in Sochi?

– I didn’t take the children with me on the trip to Sochi, precisely because of the heat and crowds. And the absence of a busy weekend.

– A year ago you wrote on your blog: “I dream of becoming an actress again in the eyes of producers.” Did they hear you?

– Someone must have heard, because I was approved for the main role in the series, for which I am very happy. The role is very interesting, the director is amazing, the filming should take place in the spring in my favorite city – St. Petersburg. And since I love trains, it will be a pleasure to travel there and back. What else can you dream of?

The first husband of Yana Gladkikh was actor Nikita Efremov. Their wedding took place in 2014, but they divorced a year later. After that, the director married the cameraman Ivan Shirshov. The couple are raising two children.

Two sons and Daria Melnikova. Her ex-husband Arthur Smolyaninov emigrated six months ago. The actor made several anti-Russian statements, as a result of which he was declared a foreign agent. Daria spoke bitterly about the difficult decision of the producers of the series “Daddy’s Daughters”.
