The investigation into the rape of American actor Danny Masterson lasted six years. The verdict was announced yesterday. The performer of roles in many television shows was found guilty of two rapes committed in the early 2000s. He received 30 years in prison for the combined offenses – two 15-year sentences for each.
The trial was not easy. One of the victims said she was raised in a Scientologist family. When she was raped, she turned to the church, only to be told by a senior official that “Danny is untouchable.”
“I didn’t choose to be born to Scientologists, I didn’t choose to be raped by Danny Masterson. Scientology tried to silence us to intimidate us,” said the mother of three, barely holding back tears. According to her, the actor did not express an iota of remorse for the pain she had to endure.
Before sentencing, the judge told Masterson that he was not a victim, even though he pleaded not guilty. “Your actions 20 years ago were criminal and that’s why you’re here today,” she said.
Danny kept his cool during the sentencing. The 47-year-old actor’s expression did not change as Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlene Olmedo handed down her decision. Masterson’s wife, on the other hand, appeared extremely depressed and upset. She sat in a group of members of the Church of Scientology, to which she and her husband belong. The defendant, to cheer up his wife, kissed her. He noted that he plans to file an appeal, according to the Daily Mail.
In March 2017, Scientology author and blogger Tony Ortega released three scanned copies of police statements. In them, the women accused Masterson of rape. It is noteworthy that both the victims and the accused were members of the Church of Scientology. This organization is often compared to a sect, and the methods it promotes are described as destructive to the human body and psyche.
