The actress was best known for playing Rebecca Hotchkiss on the NBC/DirecTV series Passions. She played the role of Patty Williams in the project Young and Restless. But she is best remembered by viewers for her role as Tina Lord on the ABC series One Life to Live, in which she appeared from 1979 to 1981 and then from 1985 to 1990. Her role as Tina was considered iconic in the soap world, the heroine was nicknamed “the daily diva of the screen”.
Three years after returning to the project, the artist was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. After receiving such recognition, Evans abruptly left the show and abandoned his career. It turns out that in 1987, Andrea encountered a stalker. The man was waiting for her in the studio lobby in Manhattan. An inadequate suitor terrorized her until his threats turned violent. At one point, he mutilates himself on the steps of the studio to get her attention.
When the fan was taken to a psychiatric hospital, he reportedly listed Evans as his next of kin. The man sent her death threats written in blood. The actress even had to put her career on hold to cope with psychological problems. Eventually, she started agreeing to acting roles again, but has since avoided participating in any public events.
During a 2008 interview, Evans admitted that she mostly tried to stay out of the public eye out of fear. “It changed me forever. It could not pass without a trace, “said Andrea. In the same year and again in 2011, she reprized her role on One Life to Live as a guest.
“It’s time to give the audience what they want. And it’s about time I found out why I left in the first place. My fans have been wanting me to come back for years. Now that the time has come, I’m thrilled to return to the role of Tina, which has always been close to my heart,” Evans said, according to the Daily Mail.
In 2015, the star received her second Daytime Emmy Award nomination for her role as Vivian Price in the web series DeVanity. Andrea also starred in the 1994 film Low Dirty Shame, the 1995 slasher film Ice Cream Man, and the 2011 action film Hit List.
