The new Aston Martin DB12 forgets Ferrari exists for a moment

With the DB12, Aston Martin is presenting a new model that is loosely based on its predecessor, the DB11. The British throw the term GT out the window and call it “world’s first super tourer”.

But by claiming to have developed the world’s first “ST”, Aston Martin seems to have forgotten the existence of cars like the Ferrari Roma and Bentley Continental GT. Both are equally powerful and luxurious GTs operating in the same segment.

No V12 in the new Aston Martin DB12

The interior in particular has undergone a major and well-deserved makeover. While the DB11’s infotainment screen seemed a little carelessly placed on the dashboard, the DB12’s screen has been more stylishly integrated into the refreshed interior. The layout of the center console is somewhat reminiscent of Porsche. It looks like a cross between the center consoles of the Cayman and the 911.

Cheaper alternative

To further enhance the driving experience, the Aston Martin DB12 features an electronic limited-slip differential and a refined chassis combined with a stronger aluminum body. With a weight of just over 1,800 kilos, the Aston Martin remains a heavyweight. The DB12 weighs as much as this budget used V12 GT. The price of the Aston Martin DB12 is not yet known, but it is guaranteed to be a multiple of the 2017 GT mentioned above 90s.
