This renewed Renault Clio could just be one of the last
The fifth generation of Renault Clio has been around for five years, so the French decided it was time for a facelift. In the truest sense of the word, because it is his face above all that is lifted. The refresh mainly affects the front of the new Renault Clio.
The car hasn’t changed much since the fourth Clio generation. When the current generation was unveiled in 2019, Renault surprised us with the now-familiar C-shaped headlights, somewhat reminiscent of sharp, commanded fangs.
New lighting design of the Renault Clio
However, this design element is said goodbye with this facelift. The French have drawn a fresher nose for the Clio and these headlights are no longer part of it. It’s these sleek, stacked little lights that are part of Renault’s new design language, and the Clio is the first model to feature these lights. The recently introduced Espace does not yet have this front.
In addition, the front bumper of the New Renault Clio is more robust with sleek, horizontal lines. The radiator grille is significantly wider than its predecessor and now has a distinctive design element. The grille darkens towards the center to emphasize the new Renault logo a bit more.
Where the Clio has a new nose, the side and rear remain almost unchanged. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the rear bumper is slightly different from the pre-facelift model. For example, the B-Segmenter now has fake plastic air intakes. Renault believes that these not only improve looks but also “improve the car’s technical capabilities and also offer extra grip”, but feel free to take this with a huge grain of salt.
There will be no electric version
The choice is huge, but not for the Dutch. Although the Clio is still available elsewhere with diesel and even LPG engines, as a Dutchman you only have the choice between a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 90 hp and the E-Tech Full Hybrid with 145 hp. Renault introduced this hybrid version on the pre-facelift model of the Clio. In it, two electric motors are coupled to form a 1.6-liter four-cylinder, there will no longer be an E variant or a Clio RS.
Prices and delivery time of the new Renault Clio
What the refreshed Clio will cost is still unclear. Renault will announce prices in June so keep an eye on Autovisie. We know that the new Renault Clio will be available from September.
