Would you like to buy a classic from a Dutch barn find? Here are 230 to choose from!
This collection of monsters proves that “belongs to an old man” doesn’t always mean a used car is in good condition. The collection emerged from a Dutch warehouse and consists of no less than two hundred and thirty special classics!
The phenomenon of barn finds is fascinating. After all, why would someone put a special car away and then never look at it again? And even forget him?
Started collecting forty years ago
When it comes to one or two cars we don’t get it, let alone when it comes to two hundred and thirty cars. Because so many classics have recently been “found” on an industrial estate in the Netherlands.
The remarkable collection belonged to a Mr. Palmen who apparently started collecting forty years ago and at some point could no longer keep up with his own collection.
All cars were started with some regularity
According to Classic Car Auctions – where the large number of classic cars are auctioned off at the end of May – Mr Palmen started with a yellow Lancia B20 and his urge to collect got pretty out of hand after that.
The auction house said the vintage cars were stored in an old church and two dry but dusty halls. They are all original and unrestored. Mr. Palmen regularly started the cars to prevent the technology from jamming.
Few knew about the collection
Surprisingly, the man, who is now in a nursing home, rarely showed his collection to anyone, not even family, friends or neighbors. So few knew about it.
We can’t see a line on the whole. The photos show models from Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati, Ferrari, Facel Vega, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, NSU, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Ford, Tatra, Moretti, Matra and many more.
The collection will be auctioned from May 19th
The two hundred and thirty cars were bought by Galerie Aaldering in Brummen and will be auctioned online from May 19th. On May 27th, 28th and 29th there are viewing days for those who are interested.
