This legendary Mercedes-Benz gets a “baby version”
As a car manufacturer, if you have an iconic model in your lineup, nowadays you need to do more with it. This iconic Mercedes-Benz is therefore also available in a smaller version!
In 2023, the car world is full of retro looks and influences from the past. Manufacturers are increasingly trying to hark back to iconic models from the past and that is making the customer all too hot. Mercedes-Benz is now performing the same trick with the iconic G-Class. There is also a much more compact version!
New entry-level models and sub-brand
That’s what the British say Coach based on sources. According to the medium, Mercedes-Benz is currently deciding on the production of this small G-Class, which is said to be part of a new group of entry-level models. The new CLA will be one of its brothers. The manufacturer also wants to make a sub-brand out of the G-Class, as it has already done with AMG and Maybach. The “Baby-G” is thus one of the models of this new sub-brand.
The German carmaker is thus working on a direct competitor, for example the Jeep Avenger. It will be a compact, robust SUV with different powertrains. In addition to hybrid variants, there will also be a fully electric version of this “Baby G”. It will use a new 800-volt system that takes less than 30 minutes to charge the (probably) huge 100kWh battery to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.
EQG AMG
It is not yet certain when the small G-Class will be launched. Let’s first welcome the “real” G-Class. It’s supposed to be released next year. Mercedes-Benz will then start with the all-electric EQG, of which we could already see almost everything in 2021. Combustion variants will also appear later. Don’t be surprised if Mercedes-Benz also presents AMG variants of this EQG. Or a crazy 6×6 version.
