Why you will pay your blue to your car insurance
You don’t get enough mileage money, we wrote this morning, and now driving a car is also becoming a lot more expensive. Why? Because car insurance premiums are skyrocketing.
According to the comparison site Independer, you pay more than 10 percent more for your car insurance. Last year drivers paid an average annual premium of 821 euros. This amount is now 11 percent higher at 912 euros.
Car insurance more expensive due to inflation
The website Autoverzekering.nl reports something similar. Consumers pay an average of 728 euros for liability insurance this year. That is around 65 euros more than in 2022.
We’re all in a vicious circle, because the increase in insurance premiums is due to the fact that everything has become more expensive: gas, electricity, car parts and so on.
When insurers pay for damage to a car, they have to deal with repair companies who pass on their higher costs in the tariffs. And that is passed on in the premium.
Top-up implemented on contract renewal
Incidentally, it is not the case that the premium has already increased for everyone. Insurance companies make increases once a policy is renewed. So if this hasn’t happened to you yet, you’re still in luck.
Switch to another company?
What can you do to make your car insurance cheaper? Independent does a “We van WC-duck…” and suggests a comparison. It might just be cheaper to switch to another airline.
Of course you can also go one step deeper, from All-Risk to WA+ or from WA+ to WA. You can also opt for a higher deductible.
