Why you will (possibly) be able to buy this fantastic Hyundai soon
Hyundai’s chief designer was recently named World Car Person of the Year. And rightly so, the Korean brand puts one beautifully styled car after the other on the road. This brilliant N Vision 74 can also be added.
Do you see a hint of the seventies in the spectacular study? That’s right! Hyundai took inspiration from 1974 when the brand presented its first car: the Pony Coupé Concept signed by Giugiaro.
Hyundai N Vision 74 with battery and fuel cell
The N Vision 74, which is around 5 meters long, is powered by two electric motors on the rear axle, which together deliver 681 hp. The special feature: the angular sports coupé not only has a 62.4 kWh battery on board, but also a fuel cell and a hydrogen tank.
Since the N Vision 74 has the same 800 volt technology on board as the Ioniq 5 and 6, it can be charged quickly. According to Hyundai, the range of the car is 600 kilometers, but you have to empty the battery and the hydrogen tank.
The N Vision 74 would not initially go into production
First, the manufacturer reported that production for the beautiful N Vision 74 was not possible. But a top man in Hyundai’s sporty N division, Till Wartenberg, now says there is a possibility.
Top man Hyundai N still wants to build the concept
The Autopian spoke to him at a car show in Canada. “Friends of mine said they would pay five zeros for an N Vision 74,” said Wartenberg. “I would like to start building the model.”
Under no circumstances does he want to develop large performance SUVs for Hyundai’s N label. “We’re against taking a big SUV, putting a lot of power in it, and then sticking an N badge on it.”
“How can you make heavy electric vehicles agile and lightning-fast?” Wartenberg asks rhetorically. Nevertheless, Hyundai N will soon come with a fast version of the Ioniq 5. And it’s not a lightweight either…
