Ferrari Purosangue beats Rolls-Royce as most expensive SUV ever
The Ferrari Purosangue already has a record to its name without a single example being tested. Here is the most expensive SUV in the world.
Now you can discuss what is and is not an SUV. The abbreviation stands for Sport Utility Vehicle. Originally a high passenger car, derived from an off-road vehicle. But nowadays its importance has pretty much leveled off and there is a big gray area with cars that can be called that.
Ferrari Purosangue: the most expensive SUV ever
The fact is that the Ferrari Purosangue is marketed as an SUV and it breaks a record with its price tag. Opposite car and driver the Italian automaker has confirmed that the upcoming car will cost $398,359.
This puts the Italian carmaker ahead of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which was the world’s most expensive SUV until recently at $355,000. And for comparison: The Lamborghini Urus, an SUV from the Italian competitor, costs almost twice as much at $230,000.
Specifications and Release
Very cool to be the world’s most expensive SUV, but what kind of meat do we have in the tub? Well, that’s pretty delicate. For example, the Ferrari Purosangue is powered by the 6.5-litre V12 you know from the 812 Superfast. With an output of 715 hp, you sprint to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.3 seconds. The top speed is around 310 kilometers per hour, not bad either.
The Ferrari Purosangue’s two rear seats certainly compromise aerodynamics, but the engineers went to great lengths to create a continuous centerline that maximizes efficient airflow while lowering the drag coefficient. This is just the tip of what will become the most refined and performance-oriented aero package ever designed for a sport utility vehicle. The most expensive SUV of all time will be delivered in 2024, an exact date is not yet known.
