Will this special van be built in the Netherlands soon?
VDL Nedcar seems to have found a new partner. The company based in Born in Limburg would build cars for ElectricBrands. So there is a good chance that the special transporter, the XBUS, will soon be made in the Netherlands!
What is VDL Nedcar? VDL Nedcar is a production company responsible for various BMW Group models. Mini and BMW cars were built for ten years. This contract expires in 2024.
A new customer for VDL Nedcar
Therefore, although the just-announced Mini Cooper SE Cabrio is still built in the Netherlands, the company is looking for new customers. VDL Nedcar seems to have found it now: ElectricBrands.
Will this special van be built in the Netherlands soon?
You probably know the ElectricBrands brand from the XBUS, which we wrote about earlier. You can use the fully electric van as a mobile home, for example.
An important aspect of an electric motorhome is the range. You have the choice between a battery pack with 10 kWh and one with 30 kWh. With the smaller battery pack you can travel about 200 kilometers. According to the manufacturer, you can drive three times as far (about 600 kilometers) with the variant that is three times as large.
The electric van (built in the Netherlands) costs 18,000 euros
The basic version should cost just over 18,000 euros including Dutch VAT. The camper will cost at least 35,000 euros, with the off-road version adding a good 2,000 euros.
Another EV
In addition to the special van, the Evetta also has to be built in the Netherlands. The Evetta is a small electric city car, which – as the name suggests – is based on the BMW Isetta.
“With the vehicles developed by ElectricBrands, we can jointly contribute to shaping the mobility of the future. (…) A future in which we carry out different activities for several partners at the same time. The cooperation with ElectricBrands offers perspectives for VDL Nedcar,” CEO John van Soerland of VDL Nedcar told De Telegraaf.
