The very old Nissan GT-R still doesn’t want to know anything about retirement
Exotic supercars are usually produced a little longer than a regular hatchback, but the Nissan GT-R makes it very colorful. After no less than sixteen years, he is still not retiring. In fact, Nissan is announcing an updated variant!
The life cycle of an average car is around seven years, although a supercar often stays on the market a little longer. Think of the Lamborghini Aventador, which lasted a good eleven years before retiring. The current Nissan GT-R R35 has been for sale since 2007, 16 years ago, and its career is still not over. This is the all-new GT-R for the new model year!
New bumpers
No big news. After all these years, Nissan isn’t suddenly going down a completely different path. It’s all about minimal external changes. So the new model year GT-R will have a slightly different bumper part both front and rear. The daytime running lights now also have a slightly different pattern.
Nothing changes mechanically on the Nissan GT-R. All versions (and there are many) still have that wonderful twin-turbo V6, good for 570 hp. In the ultimate Nismo variant, the performance of the six-seater reaches up to 600 hp. All GT-Rs still have dual-clutch automatic transmissions and all-wheel drive.
Nissan GT-R in the Netherlands?
Little choice? Then take a look at the list of different versions. Nissan offers the GT-R as Pure Edition, Black Edition, Premium Edition, Premium Edition T-Spec, Track Edition Engineered by Nismo, Track Edition Engineered by Nismo T-Spec and Nismo. Oh yes, and as a Nismo Special Edition. Is it already dizzy? Don’t worry, in the Netherlands and even in Europe you can’t even order the GT-R anymore.
The fact that the car will not be sold in Europe has everything to do with our continent’s strict emissions regulations. Perhaps the GT-R will return in the future. Years ago, Nissan announced that it was considering the successor to the GT-R. It would get a hybrid or even an all-electric powertrain.
