Car of the Year Contestant (5/7): Nissan Ariya – does the ID.4 competitor stand a chance?
The resolution for the 2023 Car of the Year election is approaching. As in previous years, seven finalists were selected. Each day for the next seven days, we will be highlighting a contender for Car of the Year.
This year’s Car of the Year awards will take place on January 13th. Until then, the live stream can be seen via Autovisie.nl.
Nissan Ariya Car of the Year
The Nissan Ariya is the fifth contender for Car of the Year, and that’s not a bad contender. At least if we look at the potency. After all, the Nissan Ariya doesn’t drive around much yet. Still, the car offers a lot of EV for the money.
Its starting price of just under 55,990 euros is above the subsidy limit, but if you know that the average price of electric cars is now 51,000 euros according to BOVAG-RAI information, then it’s close.
The size also fits well between the sales stoppers of other brands. The potential car of the year is 4.60 meters long, 1.85 meters wide and 1.66 meters high. Its wheelbase is large because the distance between the front and rear axles is 2.78 meters. With these dimensions, it is in direct competition with the Volkswagen ID.4, Kia Niro EV and Skoda Enyaq iV.
Same platform as Renault Megane E-Tech Electric
The Nissan Ariya is on the same platform as the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric. The battery pack of the Nissan has a minimum capacity of 63 and a maximum of 87 kWh. The range is 360 or 500 kilometers. Charging is possible up to a maximum speed of 130 kW. While these numbers aren’t groundbreaking, the specs can’t be discounted either.
