You should (not) do these 5 things to protect your car from fireworks
It’s almost New Year’s Eve again and that means there will be fireworks again. It’s great for fireworks lovers. But for car fans, the night can bring some worries.
This year, fireworks are allowed between December 31, 6 p.m. and January 1, 2 a.m. During rush hours – and throughout the day – you want to keep your car well protected.
Here are five things you should (not) do to protect your car from fireworks
1. Wash and wax
What you can start with now is to wash your car. This might sound weird since all the spice will make it dirty anyway, but washing the car is a smart idea.
Because your car’s paintwork is clean, the spice of the fireworks will fall off easily the day after New Year’s Eve. Better yet, wax your car. The wax layer ensures that your car can be easily rinsed clean.
2. Park in a garage
Not everyone has this opportunity. Of course, if you can park in a garage, this can prevent damage from falling flares
3. Don’t drive
Do not drive during the hours when fireworks are being set off. After all, most fireworks are set off on the street. If possible, wait before driving until no more firecrackers can be fired.
3. Don’t buy fireworks
The fourth tip is simple: don’t buy firecrackers yourself. Chances are your own pots and arrows will be fired closest to your own car. As a result, you can hit your own car with something. You also have money left over to pay next year’s more expensive taxes.
5. No car cover
Although a car cover might seem like a smart option to protect your car from weed, such a cover can catch fire. At the turn of the year, many cars go up in flames, both from fireworks and from vandalism. Of course you want to avoid that.
