Fisker runs out of money and temporarily stops production

Things aren’t going well for poor Henrik Fisker either. Once again, a company run by the Norwegian designer is in danger of collapsing. His start-up is desperately looking for money and has therefore stopped production.

Fisker only has $121 million left in the bank, $32 million of which is not immediately available. That seems like a lot, but not when you consider that there are 182 million in open accounts.

Fisker lays off employees

According to Fisker, new capital is urgently needed, otherwise the company will almost certainly not be able to continue its activities. In February it announced it would lay off employees.

By 2023, Magna Steyr will have produced around 10,000 Ocean units, of which 5,000 have been delivered to customers. Since the turn of the year, 1,300 buyers have received a car.

Software and braking problems

The Ocean suffers from software problems and has problems with its braking system, for which the model is being examined by the American RDW, the NHTSA.

Possible bankruptcy

Fisker initially only wanted to sell its models online, but then started looking for dealers. That may be too late, as the Wall Street Journal reported a possible bankruptcy last week.

The manufacturer is said to be in negotiations with a potential partner, reportedly Nissan. In the short term, the company is targeting investments of $150 million.
