The McLaren Artura Spider destroys its tires on command
The McLaren Artura Spider has a button that could potentially cost its owner a lot of money. Because the updated British supercar actually has a tire-shredding mode.
Things didn’t go well for McLaren with the Artura. The successor to the 570S was introduced back in 2021, but only really hit the market last year due to parts shortages, software issues and quality issues.
McLaren Artura update
McLaren is now giving the model a preliminary update, which apparently comes quite early due to the late start of production. At the same time, the brand is introducing the all-new McLaren Artura Spider.
The update first. McLaren increases the performance of the Artura from 680 to 700 hp, bringing it closer to the 750S. The hybrid’s electric range has also been increased from 30 to 33 kilometers.
The performance remains the same
You don’t notice that 20 hp of power have been added because the sprint from standstill to 100 km/h still takes 3 seconds and the top speed remains unchanged at 330 km/h.
However, it’s more fun on the road because McLaren has adjusted the exhaust system for a more brutal soundtrack. The Artura’s adaptive dampers and transmission now respond more quickly.
Extendable spinning wheel
Additionally, the brakes are better cooled and McLaren adds a spinning wheel pull-away function to the car, allowing you to drive away with smoking tires. The tire dealer will be happy with you.
New McLaren Artura Spider
This function is also available on the brand new Artura Spider. The car has a folding roof that opens and closes in 11 seconds at a speed of 50 km/h. It increases the car’s weight by 62 kilos (currently 1457 kg).
McLaren uses electrochromic glass in the roof, which means it can be gradually darkened or made more transparent at the touch of a button. The Spider costs 289,500 euros, the coupé 263,100 euros.
