Apple Car may not exist, but these technology brands will thrive
Apple will stop developing its own car, reports the Bloomberg news agency based on insider information. The “Titan” project has finally come to a standstill.
A lot has been said and written about a car from the tech manufacturer in recent years. For example, earlier this year it was announced that Apple was abandoning the idea of building a fully autonomous car, which turned out to be an unrealistic plan.
The end of the Apple Car
Now the whole Apple Car idea is being scrapped. At least an idea. The project, codenamed “Titan,” was much larger than the technology brand showed to the outside world.
According to the sources who spoke to the news outlet, nearly 2,000 employees worked on the car full-time. Some of these employees may be laid off due to the termination of the project.
Worked on Apple Car for 10 years
As far as we know, Apple spent about 10 years developing the Apple Car. The idea was to launch the car in 2028, two years later than originally planned.
These tech brands can do it
It’s not easy to develop a car and make a profit from it. However, there are technology brands that manage to bring a car to market. This actually always happens in collaboration with an already established automobile manufacturer.
Xiaomi
For example, the Chinese company Xiaomi introduced the SU7 last December. The fully electric car is built by BAIC and has batteries from Catl and BYD in the underbody.
Nevertheless, “Xiaomi” is written large on the tailgate. They definitely beat Apple when it came to cars.
Huawei
Huawei is also involved in electric cars and has launched the Luxeed brand together with Chery Automobile.
A car has already been presented under this brand name: the S7. This electric vehicle can already be ordered in China.
Polaris
Another brand that deals with both technology and cars is Polestar. However, the company sticks to a different order than Huawei, Apple and Xiaomi. You know Polestar for its cars, of course, but it’s also working on a phone. The smartphone is not yet on the market and will initially be launched in China.
At least if the Polestar Phone comes along. Things have been quiet about the device in the last few months. Maybe they’ll make the same decision as Apple did with the car, Ctrl+Alt+Delete…
