This Chinese brand, which was supposed to come to the Netherlands, is stopping all production

HiPhi was at the IAA in September and had long since announced that it would also come to the Netherlands. The futuristic Chinese brand seems to be too far ahead of its time as it is in serious trouble.

HiPhi – also known as Human Horizons – builds all-electric cars that wouldn’t be out of place in a remake of Blade Runner or Total Recall. Just look at the new 1305 hp A.

HiPhi X, Y and Z

The existing X, Y and Z – the brand does not have much imagination – have attracted few buyers in recent years. HiPhi sold about 4,200 to 4,800 cars annually.

The production was closed

And that doesn’t make the chimney smoke, as it now turns out. The company has therefore officially stopped production at its only factory for six months.

An internal memo said employees are not allowed to enter the factory and it is not yet known when their February salaries will be paid. A minimum wage will apply from March.

In January it was announced that HiPhi would not pay bonuses for 2023. Last week, the brand closed its brand stores in Chengdu and Guangzhou. HiPhi is affected by the price war in China.

Winter test in Norway

The brand sells cars in China and Norway. The HiPhi Z recently won a winter test there with a cold range of 522 kilometers. It beat the Kia EV9, Nio ET5, Tesla Model 3 and more.
