This is how much the BYD Seal U costs in the Netherlands

Last summer we showed the Seal U, a new SUV from BYD, for the first time. The brand is now sharing the prices of the model.

The Seal U is not, as the name suggests, the Seal’s utility brother. The car is on a completely different platform and is sold in China under the Song name.

In Asia this song is also sold as a hybrid. In the Netherlands the Seal U is only available with electric drive. You can choose between a 71.8 or 87 kWh battery pack. For this you are traveling 420 or 500 kilometers. Charging is possible with 11 kW at the public charging station. The large battery pack can quickly charge 140 kW, the smaller battery pack 115 kW.

The BYD Seal U’s battery is always coupled to a 217 hp electric motor, which enables a sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 9.3 seconds. The weight of the top model is 2,247 kilograms and the entry-level model weighs 2,120 kilograms.

The Seal U costs at least 42,990 euros in the Netherlands, exactly 1,000 euros more than the Tesla Model Y. The version with the larger battery costs at least 45,990 euros.
