Electrification is something all car manufacturers have to believe in. Nevertheless, Ferrari has apparently found a way to continue using a V12.

Although the CO2 emissions of boats are increasingly being restricted and in Amsterdam, for example, only electric boats will be allowed from 2025, there are only a few emission standards in this area.

This way you won’t pay a BPM penalty on a boat and you won’t be charged a “motorboat tax” or anything similar based on fuel type and weight.

In short, you pay the same tax for a 12-cylinder Ferrari boat as for an electric boat, although the VAT will be higher for a Maranello example.

It’s unclear whether Ferrari will actually put a V12 in a boat. The brand had previously installed a twelve-cylinder engine in a boat. For example, in the 1950s, a water speed record was set with a boat equipped with the V12 engine of the Ferrari 375 F1. The Riva Ferrari 32 speedboat, which was delivered later, had four fewer cylinders.
