This boring Honda MPV has a very remarkable powertrain
This Honda Odyssey’s 3.5-liter V6 has been swapped out for a very remarkable power source. Thanks to a number of practical YouTubers, it now features the power of a Tesla Model S Plaid.
The men behind the popular YouTube channel BoostedBoiz love Hondas. The men also own a somewhat dilapidated 2001 Honda Odyssey that they once purchased for $500.
1,020 hp drivetrain from the Tesla Model S Plaid
In 2016 they announced that they wanted to do something with it one day. In keeping with their account name, they suggested installing a turbo. Now it appears that the MPV has received a different treatment.
The intention was ultimate sleeper Construction, i.e. a lightning-fast car that looks ordinary. A wolf in sheep’s clothing. This has been successful because the Japanese are now home to the 1,020 hp drivetrain of a Tesla Model S Plaid.
Honda Odessey carriage mounted on Tesla chassis
Well, actually it’s the other way around. Since Honda and Tesla have a similar wheelbase and width, the idea of putting the Honda Odyssey body on the Model S chassis arose. As you undoubtedly understand, this is a gigantic project. For those who want to see the conversion from A to Z, there is an hour-long video.
Are you only interested in the preliminary final result? Then you have come to the right place. In another video, the YouTubers (who can be found regularly at the drag strip) press the Frankensteinmobile’s power pedal for the first time.
The Plaidessey, as the gentlemen call the Honda, accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (96.6 km/h) on a side road in just 2.6 seconds. Thanks to the Tesla Model S drive, the car knows how to… Quarter mile can be completed in just 9.9 seconds. He crossed the finish line at around 221 km/h. Not bad for an almost 23 year old MPV. It’s best to avoid traffic light sprints against this crazy Honda Odessey.
