A Ferrari LaFerrari is red, or in Jay Kay’s case: green. But who on earth ordered one the color of a German taxi?
Most taxis in Germany are beige. The color is officially called ivory and was made mandatory by law in 1971. This has no longer been the case since 2005, but many German taxi companies still stick to the familiar color.
LaFerrari is being auctioned
This Ferrari LaFerrari has exactly that color, but it doesn’t come from Germany. It will soon be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson in the USA. It is unknown what price the car will be sold for.
However, if we look at the LaFerraris going under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s, we get an idea of the value: between 3.5 and 5 million euros. And in this case, maybe even more.
Sammy Hagar
Because this LaFerrari still has a very famous owner (at the moment): musician Sammy Hagar, who you know as the singer who replaced David Lee Roth in Van Halen.
Hagar bought his LaFerrari new in 2015 and has driven around 1,770 kilometers in it since then. That doesn’t sound like much, but it is for a hypercar like this.
Reflexes become less
Why does 76-year-old Hagar give up the Ferrari? The rocker told the American newspaper USA Today that his reflexes and eyesight are failing, making it more difficult for him to control the car.
Twelve-cylinder with 963 hp
Between 2013 and 2016, 500 examples of the closed LaFerrari were built. They feature a 6.3-liter V12 and an electric motor that together produce 963 horsepower.
The LaFerrari accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 352 km/h.
