The new Fiat pick-up is cheaper than the Volkswagen Polo
A Volkswagen Polo? Yawning! This new pickup from Fiat is a lot more fun. In addition, the sturdy car also costs less than the German hatchback.
We’re talking about the Fiat Titano. There’s a good chance you’ve never heard of this car. That’s because, as you probably guessed, they’re not delivered here.
Fiat Titano as a pick-up for Africa and South America
The new Titano will make its debut in Algeria and will later be available in other African and South American countries. The Titano has an old-fashioned ladder chassis (just like this 711hp monster) and is comparable in size to the Toyota Hilux. The Fiat can be ordered with both a single and double cab.
The engine range will vary depending on the market, but it is clear that the Fiat Titano in Algeria is equipped with a 1.9 liter diesel engine that produces 148 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear via a six-speed manual transmission or to all four wheels via a limited-slip differential.
Cheaper than a Volkswagen Polo
Even though it looks good, the Fiat Titano obviously doesn’t have much business in Europe. The same applies to the Peugeot Landtrek, which it closely resembles. This model is based on the Chinese Kaicene F70. There is hardly anything “Italian” to be seen about Fiat’s new mid-range pick-up.
It’s a bit of a shame that such models rarely find their way to Europe. It’s something different than your run-of-the-mill hatchback.
We would like the Fiat Titano not only because of the beautiful design, but also because of the equally good price. In Algeria you can get pickup from 3,489,000 Algerian dinars. That’s just over 24,000 euros. You wouldn’t buy a Volkswagen Polo from us for that.
