This car breaks the speed record for reversing
Say you’re developing an extremely fast electric car, but it’s not the fastest on the planet. Of course, you can build an even faster car to break the speed record. But you can also try to find out whether you are the fastest backwards. That’s what the Rimac engineers did.
The car that broke the record is the Rimac Nevera. The insane hypercar has four electric motors that drive the wheels via their own transmission. The total output is 1914 hp and 2360 Nm of torque.
The Rimac Nevera is also fast
In the future, the Rimac Nevera is already extremely fast. You sprint from 0 to 300 kilometers per hour in about 8 seconds. After ten seconds, the top speed of 412 kilometers is already on the clock. However, that’s not enough for a speed record.
The speed record for reversing
The electric hypercar is also extremely fast in reverse gear. In fact, he breaks the speed record for reversing. On a German test track, the Rimac Nevera drove backwards at 275.74 kilometers per hour.
CEO Mate Rimac says that when the car was developed, it was assumed that the car would break the reverse speed record. However, at this point there was no plan to actually implement this. Simply because the car is not designed to reverse so quickly. “We had no idea how stable the car would be,” says Rimac.
Price Rimac Nevera
If you want to reverse extremely quickly on a test track, you need a Rimac Nevera – or an old DAF. You pay two million euros without taxes for the Croatian hypercar. A lot of money, but certainly not a disposable product, as you can see in the video below in which Autovisie editor Dries van den Elzen takes you to the Nevera.
