In America, drag racing is carried out with 19 liter V8 diesel trucks
Some people think we should do everything we can to save the climate, others prefer to keep chugging along with their diesel. Whatever you drive, your CO2 emissions are nothing compared to those trucks with the 19 liter V8 diesel engine that they drag race in America.
In the Netherlands, people with their economical turbocharged or three-cylinder engines were unable to drive because the highway was closed. Whatever you think, Extinction Rebellion is doing their best to save the climate and spread their message.
Of course, Extinction Rebellion blocked the highway not against gasoline cars, but against fossil fuel subsidies. Nevertheless, the actions disturbed many drivers.
Drag racing with a 19 liter V8 truck
The American branch of the activist group is asleep. The fact that no one is chained to the asphalt of the Kuhnle Motorsport Park anymore is remarkable in this day and age. Drag racing with big diesels isn’t really good for the planet.
Drag racing is a bit like tractor pulling, but in this case it’s really about how fast the trucks cross the finish line. The trucks have to cover around 210 meters before crossing the finish line.
The diesels pull a trailer weighing more than 45,359 kilograms behind them and are therefore not traveling very fast. The black clouds of smoke and the rearing fronts of the trucks prove that extremely high forces are being released.
Lots of diesel
The truck engine blocks may have a maximum of two turbos and one injector per cylinder. The competition requirement is that the drive source is always a 19-liter V8 diesel. Bad for the planet, good for air miles.
The organization of the event supports charities of all kinds with part of the profits. In this way, they could try to emotionally compensate themselves for the annual diesel scandal.
