Tesla driver has to pay 20,000 euros because his Model Y cannot withstand the rain
You also expect an electric car to work in the rain. A Scottish Tesla driver was surprised when it turned out his Model Y battery couldn’t withstand water.
It was quite rainy in the Scottish city of Edinburgh on the weekend of October 7th and 8th. Nevertheless, some drove their Tesla Model Y into the center without any problems.
Wait five hours
However, when they tried to return home, the Tesla would not start. According to Edinburgh Live, which spoke to the couple, they had to wait around five hours for roadside assistance from Tesla.
Then they didn’t hear from Tesla for several days. After a few complaints to the manufacturer, they received a call on Wednesday. Water has entered the battery and this is not covered by the warranty.
Bill for 20,000 euros
The bill amounts to no less than 17,374 pounds, the equivalent of 20,000 euros. “I was speechless,” one of the men told Edinburgh Live. “Seriously, my heart skipped a beat.”
After many calls, he was able to speak to a manager. He reportedly said that it wasn’t the driver’s fault, it wasn’t Tesla’s either. “In Scotland there was a yellow code.”
According to the Model Y driver, the manager further said that such problems also occur with Land Rover and Mercedes. “Do I understand correctly that Teslas are not suitable for Scotland?” the victim replied.
Tesla customer service
Tesla has now agreed to investigate the matter. Because if the customer is not responsible for the dead battery and Tesla is not, who is?
That’s one incident, of course, but it’s another one. Tesla’s build quality is clearly at a higher level than before, but the service is certainly not yet at the level of “traditional” brands.
