Used cars: 3 electric cars for a maximum of 15,000 euros

You are a private person and use your car primarily for commuting and of course for shopping and weekend trips. A mid-size car with four doors and a tailgate is practical. Could this also be an electric car?

The range of used cars is huge. You can find used cars everywhere at a dealer, via gaspedal.nl, a specialized website and even on Facebook. Which electric car do you buy for 15,000 euros? Autovisie selects the best used cars every week.

Three electric cars for a maximum of 15,000 euros

  • Hyundai Ioniq Electric (2016 – 2019)
  • Nissan Leaf (2017 – present)
  • Volkswagen e-Golf (2014 – 2017)

1. Hyundai Ioniq Electric (2016 – 2019)

The Ioniq is a remarkable car to look at, but that’s not just limited to the electric version. Hyundai delivered this model with different powertrains. As a driver you have to get used to the two-part rear window. The interior is spacious enough, the luggage compartment is smaller than other Ioniqs but still measures 462 liters. The version of the years mentioned has a 28 kWh battery and consumption during normal driving is 13 to 14 kWh/100 km. With a full battery you can travel around 200 km.

There is a modest selection of used cars. We would choose the white “Premium” (2018, 156,000 km) offered by a car company in Beek en Donk for €14,950.

What should you pay attention to on this occasion?

There is a known issue that occurs very occasionally with the electric Ioniq. The car will then not charge due to deposits at the charging port points in the car. You see, to solve this problem, a very careful scraping with a small knife or a screwdriver is enough. Well…just think about it if it suddenly happens to you.

2. Nissan Leaf (2017 – present)

At this price we are currently at the dividing line between the first and second generation Leaf. The second is less bizarre in appearance, but still a special sight. The Leaf has a nice and spacious interior and 400 liters of luggage space is not an option either. The adaptive cruise control and lane monitoring make driving on the highway very relaxed. This also makes a difference in power consumption, which is usually around 18 to 20 kWh/100 km. With the 40 kWh battery, a 100 percent charge means a good range of 200 km.

A car company in Teuge has a “Zero Edition” (2018, 178,000 km) in the special color green/gray for €14,945.

What should you pay attention to on this occasion?

Of course, Nissan enjoys an excellent reputation when it comes to quality and reliability. It’s no different with the Leaf. Of course, a flat tire or something similar can always happen, but complaints or problems relating to the technology and the drive are simply not known.

3. Volkswagen e-Golf (2014 – 2017)

Externally, the electric version of the Golf can hardly be distinguished from a normal Golf “7”. Due to the higher vehicle weight, the suspension setup is a little tighter, which makes the e-Golf a little less comfortable, but that hardly makes a difference on the highway. There are two versions of the e-Golf, one with 86 kW of power and a 24.2 kWh battery and later one with 100 kW of power and a 35.8 kWh battery. The first version is already strong enough for many users. The energy consumption of the weaker models is between 12 and 15 kWh/100 km, which corresponds to a range of between 160 and 200 km.

A car company in Rhenen has a beautiful blue 86 kW version (2016, 121,000 km) for €14,950.

What should you pay attention to on this occasion?

As with many electric cars, it happens that the charging cable does not come loose with the e-Golf. Mechanical unlocking is possible using a so-called microswitch. The instructions for use offer a remedy. It never hurts to try this out at your leisure during the day, then you’ll know for sure!

What occasion will it be?

These used cars are eligible for government subsidies. Please note: For some providers this is already included in the offer price. As long as there is a charging station nearby, electric driving is okay in the situation mentioned. All three are good choices. We’ll take the Hyundai.
