Employees at the Audi factory in Belgium are on strike! And that’s up to you
Employees at the Audi factory in Forest, Belgium stopped work last Monday. And that is indirectly due to you, the consumer. They don’t buy enough electric cars.
The demand for electric vehicles is declining. Fiat has therefore decided to temporarily close its 500e factory. Volkswagen had previously announced that it would produce fewer Cupra Born and Volkswagen ID.3.
Series Audi Q4 E-Tron quiet
And now the management of Audi Brussels has also made a similar announcement. Production of the Q4 E-Tron in Vorst will be discontinued. And that’s before production has even begun.
The Belgian Audi factory is prepared to build around 40,000 examples of the Q4 E-Tron by mid-2026. To test the assembly line, 100 to 200 will initially be produced this year.
Demand for electric SUVs is disappointing
But after that, production of the Q4 E-Tron will immediately be put on hold, according to the management of Audi Brussels. Because demand for the compact electric SUV is very disappointing.
More clarity in November
The employees at the factory in Vorst are worried about the future, which is why they stopped work on Monday morning. They have now ended the strike again.
Audi Brussels employs 3,000 permanent employees and around 500 temporary workers who also assemble the Q8 E-Tron. The company expects to provide more clarity on the fourth quarter in November.
