The cheapest car in the world from Tata as a Dutch used car
Autovisie is always looking for used cars for enthusiasts and therefore searches the lists on the sales site Gaspedal.nl. This time we found a car from Tata Motors (sister company of Tata Steel). The model was once the cheapest car in the world.
In the Netherlands we know Tata from the steel factory near IJmuiden, but not so much from its cars. That’s a good thing, because for safety reasons it’s better to switch to another used one.
The cheapest car in the world
There are only two Tata Nanos in the Netherlands, one of which is for sale as a used car. The cheapest car at that time cost 1,500 euros. Since it is now a used car, the seller is asking $4,000 for it. For the money it would be much better to buy another used car.
The special thing is that the Tata Nano is for sale. The used car has a 0.6-liter two-cylinder engine that produces 38 hp and 51 Nm of torque. The rear wheels are driven via a four-speed manual transmission.
The Tata Nano “sprints” from 0 to 60 kilometers per hour in 30 seconds. According to the seller, 100 kilometers per hour is possible, but the advertising states that it is not advisable to drive that fast: “It is recommended to avoid the motorway.” The cheapest car in the world weighs only 642 kilograms.
The Tata Nano as an occasion
The used car is from 2013 and has had a Dutch license plate since 2015. The odometer reading is 82,000 kilometers.
The cheapest car from India has not survived the last 10 years completely unscathed. The front bumper is “decorated” with fins and the smallest four-door car of all time now has a sports exhaust. This may have given the Tata Nano some extra horsepower.
