Volkswagen is renewing its most important model: the Tiguan
If you follow Autovisie.nl you might have seen this car before. Images of the new Volkswagen Tiguan were leaked back in mid-August. Now we can actually introduce you to the model.
The Tiguan is Volkswagen’s most important car. The brand sold 1.2 million copies worldwide in the last two years. More than any other Volkswagen model. Since 2007, 7.5 million Tiguans have been sold worldwide.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan
This is already the third generation of the SUV. The model has grown slightly in terms of external dimensions. The design has changed significantly.
Motorizations
The range of engines has also changed. There are two plug-in versions of the Volkswagen Tiguan to choose from, one with 204 and one with 272 hp. Both have a 1.5-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor. The electric motor always draws its energy from a 25.7 kWh battery pack (gross), which can be used to drive over 100 kilometers. You can charge with a home charger with 11 kW, but also with a quick charger with 50 kW. A six-speed automatic transmission, DSG of course, is standard.
The DSG can also be paired with a mild hybrid powertrain. This is also based on a 1.5 TSI and produces 130 or 150 hp. With the new Volkswagen Tiguan, driving on diesel or petrol without electrical assistance is not possible in the Netherlands.
The eye-catcher in the interior is a 12.9-inch screen, optionally 15 inches. You may know this screen from the Volkswagen ID.7. The LED lighting is also striking; you can also see this on the ID.7. On the steering wheel we find normal physical buttons again. That is very nice!
The Volkswagen Tiguan will come onto the market at the same time as the new Passat. You can expect the SUV in the Netherlands in early 2024.
