Don’t let the headlights of the new Porsche Panamera worry you

Porsche is carrying out the final tests of the new Panamera, an important model of the brand. Autovisie can already show you the first images of the new generation. Don’t be afraid of the headlights!

The Panamera came onto the market in 2010. The second generation appeared in 2016 and is therefore ready for renewal.

The new Porsche Panamera

The Panamera is an important model for Porsche. After the Cayenne and the 911, the brand is the car that sells the most.

Don’t be afraid of the headlights

Don’t be immediately put off by the large headlights. These test cars still have a sticker around the headlights. The light unit itself is much smaller than it appears from a distance. In addition, the design will not scare off any Porsche Panamera driver. Visually, little has changed.

A lot is changing beneath the surface. So far we know that the engine range has been completely renewed and four hybrids will be built. With the new models you can drive 70 percent further purely electrically than before. With the current generation Panamera 4S E-Hybrid you can drive around 54 kilometers electrically. This would mean that the new generation has an electric range of around 85 kilometers.

The battery has also become larger and now has a capacity of 25.9 kWh. The current Panamera E-Hybrids have a 17.9 kWh (previously 14.1 kWh) battery pack. Charging is still possible with just 11 kW.

The four E-Hybrid models now have a more powerful electric motor, which is impressive Porsche dual clutch transmission (PDK) transmission. As an option, the Porsche Panamera also has active damper control instead of the standard semi-active suspension. The dampers on the standard chassis were also renewed.

Porsche Panamera in all its glory

What exactly we can expect from the specifications of the new Panamera and whether the chassis is really significantly better than the previous generation remains to be seen. Porsche will not present the new Panamera until November 24th.
